The Parkhurst Certified Appraisal program is designed to specifically address these commonly asked questions.

Whether you recently purchased your original Parkhurst painting, or have enjoyed it for years, each Appraisal, issued, dated and certified by Parkhurst Enterprises is custom tailored for your piece. The Parkhurst Certified Appraisal provides more than just the approximate market value for your artwork.  In appraising your piece we consider: condition of the work, subject matter and composition, rarity, period of creation, current market demand, provenance and many other factors influencing the value of your piece.

The final appraisal includes a: 1) certification of ownership, 2) condition report, 3) description of your piece including date of creation, dimensions and medium, 3) appraisal process and methodology and 4) approximate market value based on over 15 criteria.  The appraisal document replaces lost Certificates of Authenticity and is also designed to fulfill requirements for most major insurance companies.

Included with each appraisal is a Complementary Inspection of your painting by our trained curators (requires physical inspection of your piece at Parkhurst Galleries), covering how you can improve or preserve the value and condition of your Parkhurst original painting.

To begin the appraisal process for your Violet Parkhurst original artwork:

1. Fill out the application and include any comments on the history and condition of the artwork.
2. Provide clear photographs (digital or film) of:
1. The entire front of the painting,
2. A close-up of the Parkhurst signature on the front, and
3. The entire back of the canvas, showing any signatures, remarks, stamps or handwritten artist comments.
3. Attach copies of any receipts, certificates of authenticity, provenance papers etc. showing date and location of purchase and purchase price, if possible, and
4. Include a check or money order for the $75 processing fee.  Please make payable to Parkhurst Enterprises, or call 310.547.3158 to pay by credit card.

Once all the information has been received, please allow 3-5 weeks for us to research your piece, and generate your Parkhurst Certified Appraisal.  The appraisal will be mailed to the owners address provided in the application.

What is an Artist Proof versus a Limited Edition reproduction?

Every authentic Parkhurst reproduction is made using the finest quality materials and with the highest degree of craftsmanship possible to ensure decades of enjoyment for our collectors. 

Each Giclee print, whether it is an Artist Proof or Limited Edition Series, is printed, stretched and framed under the close supervision of the artist herself and personally inspected by Violet Parkhurst to ensure the highest resemblance to the original. 

Upon completion of the printing process, each reproduction is hand-sealed, numbered and signed by the Artist.  In addition, a genuine Parkhurst thumbprint is affixed to the back of each reproduction to ensure authenticity.  Each Artist Proof reproduction is then placed upon Violet’s easel and personally hand-embellished by her, further enhancing the beauty and value of the A/P Series.

Select A/Ps also receive a remark, an original artist sketch, on the back of the canvas, serving to further authenticate the reproduction, and provide the collector with a reproduction that is, in essence, like no other.  This meticulous and often lengthy process only allows for a small number of reproductions to be made each year, typically only 50 Artist Proofs and 300 Limited Editions for each original.
